René Jean

It is with heavy hearts that we, Roger, Céline, Denis and Marina, brothers and sisters of René Jean of Montreal, inform you that he passed away peacefully at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Montréal (CHUM) on Friday, February 21, 2025, at the age of 73.

René was born in Acadia, in Campbellton, New Brunswick. His father Valère Jean, his mother Gilberte Mazerolle, as well as his two beloved brothers, the eldest of the family, Gilbert, and the youngest, Marcel, preceded him in the hereafter. In addition to his brothers and sisters, he also leaves behind his sister-in-law Carmen, his brothers-in-law Kevin and Yves, his niece Mélanie, his nephews François, Jean-Philippe, Félix and André, his great-nieces and nephew, two aunts, Patricia and Anna, cousins, and friends and neighbors who were very dear to him, some for a long time, others more recently.

René was a passionate enthusiast of fine arts, travel, music and fine cuisine. This is evidenced by his professional career, notably as director of a national exhibition center and manager at the Canada Council for the Arts and the Department of Canadian Heritage, his travels overseas and to Mexico, and his entire life journey in Acadia, Ontario and Quebec.

His family will say a final goodbye to him privately at a later date.
There will be no official religious or memorial service.
