Alice Halstead

Alice Halstead, age 97, passed away peacefully at the CHSLD Hubert-Maisonneuve in Rosemere on July 15th. Born February 16th, 1928 in Verdun Quebec, Alice was the eldest daughter of the late Walter Halstead and Florida (Savaria), and sister to Bernice Miller (Joseph).   She is survived by her niece Susan Thomas; nephews Michael Miller(Carole-Ann) and Greg Miller(Frances); great-nieces Shannon Thomas Walton (Donald), Samantha and Alyssa Miller; great-great nephews Chase and Ryder Walton; and beloved cat Tammy.

Alice lived life to the fullest and her caring nature was greatly appreciated by her family and friends. She selflessly retired from a career in nursing to take care of her mother full time. Adventurous in nature, Alice enjoyed traveling and may well hold the family record for number of times she moved. Alice loved crafting and spending time with friends. A woman of deep faith, she served her Lord by helping those around her through her work, charity, volunteering, and her deeply loyal friendships.

The family is very grateful to Christiane, Alice’s caring companion and advocate over the past two years as Alice’s independence slipped away; Frances’ sister Catherine who visited Alice often during hospital and long-term care stays; and Les Petit Frères for social and spiritual visits.
