Denise Provencher

On October 13, 2025, Thanksgiving Day, Denise Provencher returned to God the Father shortly before 7:00 AM. Denise was the wife of the late painter Martin Gagnon. She is survived by her son Pierre as well as Daniel, for whom she was a foster mother. She also leaves to mourn her son Paul, her daughter-in-law Mélissa-Anne, and her grandchildren: Marie-Anne, Thomas Lloyd, Sophia, Christopher-Edmund, Kateri, Stella, and Karol-Józef.

A member of a family of 9 children, her brothers and sisters were very dear to her: François (deceased), Lucien, Rolande, Marcelle (deceased), Jacques (deceased), René, Pauline (deceased), and Gilles.

Denise was an extraordinary leader, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, wife, and friend. Her deep faith, her spirituality rooted in the Catholic religion, and her non-judgmental love inspired many. She was a woman of prayer and carried people in her heart.

The funeral will take place on Saturday, October 18, at 11:00 AM at Saint-Marcel Church (see details below). The family will receive relatives and friends starting at 10:00 AM the same day at the church. A small reception will follow the Mass.

Acknowledgements

For several weeks, Denise had been saying she was preparing for “a journey.” The family thanks all those who accompanied her on this final journey.

A special thank you to the entire team at Marie Clarac Hospital in Montreal, who treated her with dignity until the end.

Thank you also to all those who came to visit her in recent weeks.

A special thank you to Nicole and Alain, who have been there for Denise for many years. Especially in the last two years, they provided her with great security.
