Marcel Boyer
It is with great sadness that we announce that Marcel Boyer, of Montreal, Québec, passed peacefully in the early morning of November 2, 2025, surrounded by family and friends, at the age of 66. He was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, which he fought with dignity for more than 8 years, defying the odds.
Marcel was born in Toronto, the son of Jules Boyer & Yolande Chouinard, Montrealers who had moved to Ontario in search of greater opportunities. The family returned to Montreal, eventually settling in Ville Saint-Laurent where Marcel pursued a variety of personal and professional interests with passion and integrity.
He dedicated his time to his daughters Cristine and Cynthia, who will remember their father for his presence, generosity, sense of humour and care.
At family gatherings, he would often be seen behind a camcorder, leaving us with countless hours of footage. He enjoyed long bike rides, snowshoeing in nature and history.
In 2017, Marcel founded “Montreal Past and Present”, a popular online community dedicated to the photos and history of his beloved hometown. The milestone of 50,000 members was reached just five days before his death.
Marcel will be deeply missed by his daughters, Cristine & Cynthia (Vincent), brothers Ronald (Tina), Michel (Arlene), Robert (Odette) and Patrick (Julie), nieces and nephews, Jonathan, Mélissa, Michelle, Stéphanie, Tiffany, Daniel, Julien, Karine, Martin, Vanessa, Naomie, William, Andréanne, Anthony, grandchildren Alice & Louis, and ex-spouse, Sylvie.
He was preceded in death by his father Jules Boyer, stepmother Madeleine, mother Yolande Chouinard, and sister-in-law Nicole.
As Marcel cared profoundly about those in need, a donation may be made in his memory to the Old Brewery Mission in tribute to his great kindness (see details below).

We focus on tailored actions and programs to meet the individual needs and challenges of people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. We are convinced that it is possible, at any point in these individuals' lives, to intervene effectively to break the cycle of homelessness.
