Marco Wingender

On February 22, 2026, Marco Wingender passed away at the “Au diapason” home in Bromont, following cancer that he tried to overcome for nearly two years. He leaves to mourn his parents, Pierre Wingender and Louise Gosselin, his sister Julie, his brother Philippe (Leslie Sander), his nephews and nieces (Charles-Antoine, Camille, Eliana and Rémi), as well as many uncles and aunts.

He will be missed by many friends and supporters, for whom the cause defended by Marco — fostering closer ties between the First Nations and the Quebec nation — is a national priority. He also proposed a rediscovery of the French regime in his work entitled “The Forgotten New World”, which, under the impetus and direction of Samuel de Champlain, favoured a unique, respectful and egalitarian approach toward Indigenous peoples, their values and their way of life.

Marco will remain for us a cheerful person, with a great sense of humour and appreciated by all. Athletic and disciplined, he moved through life with determination and intensity, always putting his heart into everything he undertook. A lover of nature, he felt free and alive in it. He loved animals and shared with them his gentleness and tenderness. Marco was creative, artistic and deeply a dreamer. He leaves, with those who knew him, many beautiful memories.
