Robert Gravel

After a long battle with illness, surrounded by his family, Me Robert Gravel peacefully passed away at Maison Adhémar-Dion (Terrebonne) on March 27, 2019, at the age of 76. He is survived by his wife, Denise Chouinard, his children, Annie and France, his grandson, Tristan, his daughters’ partners, Jacques (Alexis and Justine) and Martin (Elody and Jakob), his sister-in-law, Linda (Pierre), his brothers-in-law, Léo (Françoise) and Aurel, other relatives, and many friends.

Having joined his father’s notary office, Me Léopold Gravel, on May 16, 1969, he was just weeks away from celebrating his 50th anniversary as a notary with his daughter, France, also a notary since 2007, who will now be responsible for continuing the legacy of this family practice, founded in 1926. His humanism combined with his integrity and business acumen left a lasting impression on many.

Deeply involved in his community, he was recognized as an administrator at Caisse Desjardins de Terrebonne for almost 50 years, including 25 years as president. Furthermore, he was one of the founding members of the Corporation du Collège Saint-Sacrement, serving from 1973 to 2017, subsequently ceding his place to his daughter, France, as well as a member of the College’s board of directors for 10 years, from 2007 to 2017. Finally, he was the founding president of the Gala du Griffon d’Or. Balance was important to him: his family and those he met will remember the many passions that animated him over time (golf, skiing, baseball, travel, etc.). His wisdom, humor, and warmth will be greatly missed…
