Robert Guy Girardin

Saxi has passed away.
On Friday, August 29, 2025, our dear Robert-Guy left us.
He leaves behind a unique, rich, and exceptional legacy.
Born in the islands of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon, he was alternately a teacher and journalist, first in Paris, then in Montreal where he permanently settled in the 1960s.
He played with words to make them the center of his universe and become the writer we knew.

The illness that occurred a few years ago, like a headwind, made his journey difficult, reducing the activities of this very active and spirited man. Throughout this time, strength and willpower taught him to grieve with dignity, intelligence, and humanity, reflecting his entire life.

Together, through this ordeal, we continued to nurture the love that united us.
Together, we shared this life, strengthening it with ever stronger bonds.
Together, we laughed, we cried, we grew, and we loved each other.

Today, great sadness has filled our family.
Those who knew you will not forget you, the sensitive writer, passionate about words, singular and beautiful stories. You dreamed of a better world by inventing it. “Palomar’s eye” sees differently and sees other things, from closer and now from farther away.

Dear Robert-Guy, you will leave a great void in the lives of your grandchildren Alix and Gaspard, your daughter Miléna, and your lifelong companion Caroline.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, September 13, 2025, starting at 4:00 PM at 5283 Park Avenue, #6 to pay their final respects to Robert Guy.

Our thanks go to the entire team at the Alfred-Desrochers Long-Term Care Center in Montreal, and especially to Drs. Champoux and Gagnon.
We also think of all those who provided quality care and daily attention to Mr. Girardin throughout all these years. They have our full gratitude.
A special thought also goes to Dr. Nicolas Jodoin, who accompanied him medically and humanely.
