It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sylvio Grifo, age 60—a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, friend, mentor, and unforgettable man.

Born and raised in Quebec, Sylvio spent many summers working on a cranberry bog in Boston, developing a lasting connection to the land, the water, hard work, and the simple pleasures of the outdoors.

Sylvio leaves behind his loving wife, Loran; his daughter, Cassandra, her husband, Mohamad, and their cherished son, Sami; his son, Tristan; his stepsons, Toni and Matteo; his mother, Denise Giroux, and her husband, Jean-Pierre; his father, Vincent Grifo, and his wife, Linda; and his stepbrother, Raphael. He will also be deeply missed by countless family members, friends, and colleagues whose lives he touched.

A true sportsman, Sylvio played hockey with the same group for more than 30 years, cherishing both the game and the friendships it fostered. He loved boating, skiing, motorcycles, dirt biking, adventure, laughter, music, and, most recently, exploring the world from behind the wheel of his RV.

With his warm smile, impeccable style, and magnetic presence, Sylvio was impossible to forget. Proud, charismatic, and endlessly optimistic, he called himself a dreamer. He believed there was always another adventure to pursue, another challenge to meet, and another reason to laugh. A relentless warrior, he carried an inner flame that, as he often said, “never goes out.”

A mentor to many, Sylvio embodied a “the sky is the limit” mentality, inspiring others to dream bigger, work harder, believe in themselves, and recognize that anything was possible.

He loved fiercely and lived boldly, with his world centered on his wife, children, and grandson. He did not simply pass through life—he made an impression on it, and that impression will be his lasting legacy.

Though his absence leaves an immeasurable void, his laughter, strength, determination, stories, music, and love will live on in the family he cherished and the friendships he nurtured.

Sylvio has departed in body, but his flame remains.
It will never go out.
