Miles John Dempster, aged 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by close friends and family at Maison Saint-Raphaël in Montreal after a three-year battle with cancer, leaving behind his beloved companion Colette Fortin, his son Alec, his daughter Marina, and his cherished grandchildren (Paloma, Lucian, and Eliseo).
“He leaves an indelible mark on my heart.” – Colette
We are beginning to organize celebrations in his memory: perhaps a concert for his friends at the Saint-Louis Chapel of Saint Jean-Baptiste Church in Montreal. Miles expressed the wish that his ashes be scattered at the foot of his favorite tree, the beech, at the home of his dear friends Carole and Mario.
Thanks
Our family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the multicultural community of joyful, compassionate, and dedicated staff at Maison Saint-Raphaël, who laughed, sang, and joked with him in Spanish, French, and English. Despite his diminished physical capabilities, Miles continued to bring light, laughter, and music to those around him during these last three months.
We also wish to express our warm gratitude for the excellent home care services provided by Maison NOVA and the CLSC Côte-des-Neiges.
St. Raphael’s is a non-profit charitable organization that was created to build and operate a palliative care home and day centre that will offer free, high-quality palliative care in one of the most densely populated areas of Montreal.
